Apo Reef Natural Park
The Grand Apo Reef, commonly known as Apo Reef Natural Park (ARNP), is located 15 miles west of Sablayan in the province of Occidental Mindoro. The Reef covers 27,469 hectares in the Sulu Sea (including an 11,677-hectare protected buffer zone). Apo Reef Natural Park is home to an amazing 400 different forms of coral and over 385 species of fish, making it one of the world's largest and most significant reefs.
Apo Island
The largest of the three islands is Apo Reef. It has a shallow lagoon, which ranges in depth from two to ten meters, encircled by mangrove forest and provides a haven for birds as well as a food supply, spawning site, and nursery for a number of marine and coastal animal species. The reef's 34 square kilometers of varied corals support a variety of fish, marine animal, and invertebrate species.
